The inaugural CineVegas Film Festival launched at Bally's Hotel with the world premiere of Star Trek: Insurrection at the Jubilee Theater. Founded by Joshua Abbey and Amie Williams, with support from producers Michael and Michele Berk, the four-day festival was the result of three years of preparation. The nonprofit Reel Las Vegas Inc. raised over $300,000 in in-kind donations and $200,000 in cash sponsorships to launch the festival.
